(1) fax enclosures: A fax enclosure is a new concept to RKS Fax, not available in our older fax software. If you were sending out regular letters, and you had certain things which you also stuffed into the envelope (brochure, flyer, price list), you would call that an enclosure. A fax enclosure is a document that has been converted to a fax file, ready to include ( enclose ) with new faxes that you create. Once you save a fax page (or set of pages) to the Fax Enclosures folder, you can use them to build new faxes, or to attach to new faxes, as many times as you need. Use this for brochures, reports, price lists, fact sheets and other documents that you might want to include with your faxes.
(2) RKS Fax uses a separate transmission log, so that each attempt to send a fax will be recorded. MightyFax records the last attempt to transmit. The new transmission log contains details for each attempt including: # of dials, date/time, duration of the call, pages sent, result including error code). The RKS Fax transmission log is accessed via File > View and Print Transmission Logs.
(3) As of version 3.60 MightyFax can do this
(4) The TIF file format is very common, and can be read by most versions of Windows and graphics programs. TIF is the worldwide standard for storing faxes. MightyFax uses a proprietary (APF) format, and RKS Fax uses TIF format.
(5) Dialing Rules. Dialing rules are rules you can apply to new faxes you create, and also to phone book entries. You can specify dialing rules for both local and long distance calling, and for both before and after the fax number. For instance, you may need to dial a calling card number when calling long distance, or dial a 9 to get an outside line. Another use us to insert commas which can force pauses when dialing. A comma tells the modem to pause for 2 seconds before continuing. Use 2 commas for 4 second pause, etc. MightyFax has a limited version of this, applicable globally rather than for each recipient.
(6) MightyFax can start automatically at Windows startup by placing a shortcut to it in the Program Files Startup folder. RKS Fax does this automatically for you, just by checking a configuration option.
